There is a grass roots movement right now toward a natural allergy treatment because of concerns over side effects from prescriptions. It seems that more people are affected by allergies each year similar to the growth rate of other health issues like obesity. Luckily there is an remarkable allergy treatment found in a natural botanical from Asia.

This botanical works on a variety of areas in your body and targets whatever needs the most attention, while correcting allergies at the same time. There is generations of folk lore and years of scientific work backing it, even pharmaceutical companies are paying attention. Some studies are focusing on one nutritional element called a xanthone. There are about 200 known xanthones presently, most of which are found in wood, and over 40 found in the mangosteen fruit. (not related to Mango)

Get An Allergy Test Done

By getting tested for allergies you’ll realize what to remove from your diet or what to avoid. This is obvious but necessary, and doing that will mark the start of your allergy treatment. There are also allergens you’re forced to deal with so the next step is to increase your natural allergy resistance.

A well prescribed allergy treatment will eliminate discomfort, subdue the severity and possibly even control your symptoms completely. Unfortunately, most medications are just a temporary solution and in some cases become less effective over time. If your allergies are life threatening, then you’ll want to carry an Epi-Pen with you and keep it up to date each year.

The health system we have in North America is the best in the world in many respects, but in the dark in some areas. Many Doctors will never confess they don’t have an answer for you and will resort to prescriptions because of their training. If they knew of an effective natural allergy treatment, it would be the natural thing to recommend.

Something To Think About

With the countless list of allergens that could set off a reaction, how much help can your medications be when it’s just an antihistamine? It makes more sense when a natural allergy treatment is focused on helping your body heal itself. What if it also reduces inflammation, has anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties? It’s even better when it’s from a powerful natural source that has a compliment of vitamins and minerals helping it out.

The natural allergy treatment I’m referring to is found in the Mangosteen fruit. Highly revered for its medicinal qualities, it contains a powerful nutrient called the xanthone. It’s a super nutrient that can address a wide range of health issues. It’s a double bonded molecule with side chains, and each side chain can work on a different health problem.

Get Familiar With Xanthones

It’s imperative to know why a double bonded molecule is noteworthy, especially when it comes to treating your allergies. Xanthones have a skeletal structure (the double bond) and side chains. Each side chain can work on a separate health problem, and unleashed into your bloodstream will work its magic by mopping up viruses, fungus and other parasites. It will also strengthen vital organs by boosting your immune system.

A double bonded molecule is stronger than other molecules, not like antioxidants that expire on first contact with a free radical for instance. Because of the skeletal structure, the side chains are anywhere from 20 to 30 times more powerful than antioxidants found in other natural sources. What’s truly amazing is how it out performs concentrated extracts like co-enzyme Q10 for instance.

Natures Powerhouse Allergy Treatment

As mangosteen becomes more widely known to local doctors, they are starting to prescribe mangosteen first and pills later if a condition persists. The number of Doctors practicing this style of treatment is in its infancy, but you can introduce it to your doctor and help this trend grow.

Back in the late 70′s aloe vera was introduced and became a health sensation, remember? It quickly became a standard name and most homes had an aloe vera plant somewhere for emergencies. Today you can walk into any health food store and see a good variety of aloe vera to choose from. Aloe Vera has one xanthone, Mangosteen has 43 and counting!

Some Mangosteen Facts

A study done in India found that the Mangosteen rind suppressed acute inflammation as well as swelling in rats. It also inhibited systemic anaphylaxis in guinea pigs and rats. In a recent experiment, xanthones showed the ability to interfere with HIV protease, causing the virus to remain immature and incapable of infection. The COX 2 inhibitor properties found in mangosteen work a lot like the drugs Vioxx and Celebrex, but without the dangerous side effects. The most studied xanthones are the alpha-mangostin, gamma-mangostin, and garcinone-E. They have demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties.

Ancient Chinese herbs alleviate allergies and asthma.

Studies showed Reishi extract is effective against all four types of allergic reactions including positive effects against asthma and contact dermatitis. Reishi works in 3 ways:

it inhibits histamine release from mast cells

it regulates and balances the immune system

it is anti-inflammatory

‘Reishi’s anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties inhibit the release of histamine thus preventing or alleviating allergic sensitivity reactions’. Optimum Nutrition Magazine.

Reishi strengthens and stimulates the immune system to attack bacteria, virus and cancer cells. However, and unlike other immune boosting herbs, Reishi has the extraordinary capacity to regulate and balance the immune system when it is overactive and has over compensated in autoimmune conditions like allergies and is an approved treatment in Japan for myasthenia gravis, a severely debilitating autoimmune disease.

Histamine mediated allergic reactions are chronically elevated pro inflammatory immune responses. The immune system responds as if it is under attack from what is perceived to be a dangerous and potentially life threatening foreign body. Medical science and drug research are target specific, focusing on treating the symptoms of allergies and do not consider the causative factors underlying allergic responses i.e. the natural defence mechanisms of the body. Reishi works on the underlying cause for the condition and not just the symptoms.

Reishi’s anti-inflammatory benefits are thought to be partly due to its strong antioxidant action. The immune system and antioxidant activity becomes weaker with age, hence the rising incidence of life threatening infections in older people. Reishi is a powerful antioxidant destroying damaging free radicals implicated in ageing and many diseases, including cancer and one reason why it is called ‘The Long Life Herb’ and ‘The Great Protector’. A compound in Reishi, GLB 7, actually slows production of free radicals. Recent research proved that when free radical damage was reduced the subjects lived 20% longer. Antioxidants have an extraordinary ability to forestall age related changes to the immune system and even reverse many aspects of immune function in people with damaged immune systems.

Although new to the west Reishi has been rated the top and most important herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 2000 years with Ginseng in second place and so highly treasured it was traded for its own weight in gold and only available to Emperors. Now it is the most thoroughly researched herb in Asia with over 200 active ingredients and unique compounds that are the most biologically active obtainable from any plant source. Oleic acid and cyclooctasulfur are the main active ingredients that inhibit histamine release from mast cells.

Reishi and Cordyceps are very safe and can be taken over prolonged periods without side effects. In fact they have an accumulative effect and the longer they are taken the better they work.

Living with allergy can be really hard but what do you think can be harder than an allergy that prevents you from drinking one of the most basic staple of America, milk?

It seems the world evolves around dairy. When we talk about it, what always come in mind is milk and milk products. In the hierarchy of food requirements, it is a daily dietary need.

Milk is found in any creamed/milked recipes: salads, soups, pastries, cakes, candies, cheese – name it all. It is what keeps infants alive in the absence of mother’s milk! When dairy is a top grosser item in grocery stores, it is ironically, also a top-allergy causing substance around. For some, this can be pretty hard especially for the moms who do not know what to give to their children who are allergic to milk.

What is the synthesis that makes dairy a cause of allergy?

Two terminologies must be tackled when talking about dairy allergy to avoid confusion. First is Lactose Intolerance and the other is Milk or Dairy Allergy.

Lactose Intolerance is present in people who produce low levels of enzyme called lactase in the intestine. With this enzyme lacking in the stomach, a person will not be able to metabolize larger amounts lactose or milk sugar present in dairy products. The result is retention of water causing diarrhea in intestines.

The retained water ferments, causing gas pain, flatulence and bloating. These symptoms of the lower abdomen could last from 12 to 48 hours (the time food process is completed in the intestine). With this length of time, secondary symptoms could be caused by other food intakes. The immediate intolerance could be felt at once because of peristalsis or muscle movements pushing the food and causing pressures inside.

Normally part of aging process, people may end up having lactose intolerance and this does not exclude the vulnerability of infants who are more delicate to reactions.

Milk Or Dairy Allergy is when the immune system reacts to milk protein. The two proteins in milk are casein and whey. The body naturally reacts to foreign substances producing protective antibodies to counter these detected “foreign elements” which includes viruses, bacteria and other allergens.

When milk proteins leak into the bloodstream, the antibodies detect it the same way causing several allergic symptoms. It has an obsolete association with protein intolerance, and lately been considered hypersensitivity.

Now, having defined the two basic facts about milk and the body reactions after taking it, the solutions to relieve its symptoms are easier to deal with.

Handling Dairy Allergy is easier to manage for adults because they can avoid it altogether. As of infants, it is not as easy because it can even leak even in breast milk. In this case, a doctor’s help will do.

Practically the best solution is to use “soy milk” as alternative. For adults, goat milk with lower concentration of casein protein is more tolerable than cow’s milk. If there are still any reactions, then that is the time to stop taking any, after determining that it is really the cause.

For people prone to milk/dairy allergies, the initial treatment is to stop taking allergenic diets for at least 3 weeks. These food groups include: wheat, dairy, eggs, corn, soy, citrus fruits, nuts, peanuts, tomatoes, food coloring and preservatives, coffee, and chocolate. This will not cure the ailment but it will help the examining doctors to determine the reaction properly.

You will not be surprised if a two-year old kid knows the word allergy. Although this word is well-said and used around, Webster defines it as “altered bodily reactivity”. What we do not know is that most of the phantom ailments felt are not necessarily serious. Some of them are allergies.

The more layman way of describing it is when the well-structured functioning of the body is attacked by “foreign elements or substances,” it produces antibodies to protect itself from this invader, where the battle results in annoying symptoms. It could range from skin rashes, to sneezing, inability to breathe- as simple and complex to total failure of immune system and induce death!

What triggers allergy is the substance causing it. It could range from these varieties: foods, latex, animal droppings/dander, pollen, molds, dust mites, insect bites, stings, plants, medications, cosmetics, chemicals/dyes, metals (nickel).

If the symptoms are visibly manifested, in its severe form, it could lead to anaphylaxis attack with the following symptoms: difficulty in breathing and swallowing, swelling of lips, tongue throat and other body parts, loss of consciousness. Because allergies have no definite cause except that it could be genetically acquired from parents, or by being constantly exposed to the same substance for long periods of time, it is crucial that a person is aware of it.

Being prepared to manage allergies should be in mind so it will not affect the way of living, and there are options to ease the discomfort of its attack.

Before trying to find ways to cure allergy, consider the underlying causes that increase allergic syndrome:

Eating habits during the first infant year: feeding the solid foods infant too early that goes with lack of breast feeding.

Poor digestion due to improper chewing of food leading to poor hydrochloric acid in the stomach and lack of enzymes for good digestion

Presence of parasites, candida albicans (fungi), bacteria

Emotional and Mental Stress

Hormonal changes

Harsh food additives

The phrase “natural allergy relief” is as great as it can easily cause multitudes of verbal reaction than the allergy itself. This usually refers to products with the label “natural” in their packages.

With its complexity, there are ways to combat allergy problems at home without involving sophisticated process. Consider the following aid:

Natural Antioxidants – these are fruits and vegetables that are high in hues such as grapes, berries, spinach, which prevents free-radical damages to cells. Vitamins C, E and beta-carotene have anti-inflammatory properties to alleviate allergic swellings.

Sleep – naturally releases serotonin to help promote regeneration of cells.

Water – the “universal solvent” that will thin out the mucous membrane and wastes that aggravate allergy so all of these will drain easily.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids – mostly found in fish, almonds and flax seeds to help respiratory conditions and reduce inflammation.

Nasal Wash – usually practiced by yogis, this is letting water pass through the nasal cavity at least once a day. Doing this 3 times for 6 weeks can lessen allergic symptoms dramatically.

Breastfeeding A Baby – breast-fed babies develop natural anti-oxidants to allergies which will be helpful even in later life.

There are popular herbal remedies to allergy with a doctor’s guidance to check its adverse reaction to body. The popular ones are as follows:

Quercitin – Anti-inflammatory, reduction of histamine

Green Tea Extract – helps in digestion and enhancement of mental function, cuts cholesterol, lowers cancer, regulates blood sugar

Selenium – immune function stimulant which increases B-cell antibody response, enhances Vitamin Cion of Coenzyme Q10.

Bromelain – to ease inflammation, helps digestion of vegetable protein, promotes circulation

Papain – breaks down protein and dead tissue

Licorice Root – restores vital energy, moisten the lungs, aids digestion, to prevent skin inflammation

Copper – helps the formation of T-cells.

Molybdenum – enhances the cells utilization of vitamin C, detoxifies

Magnesium (Citrate)- anti-stress mineral. Aids in detoxification, relaxes bronchial tubes

Calcium – regulates the acid/alkaline balance in tissues, buffers the acidic stage of an allergy, lessen histamine production.

Vitamin B15 – alleviates muscle stress to promote endurance

Vitamin C – natural anti-histamine, prevents inflammation, assists hormonal production

Allergy is a fact of life. We should accept it with positive mental attitude. It should not cripple us to do our goals. With proper research and professional advice, it can be eliminated or lessened.

Do you suffer from regular bouts of sneezing, a runny, clogged or itchy nose, itchy, watery red eyes, and an itchy throat? Are you tired of the toll these symptoms take on your general countenance and overall strength? Chances are you think it’s a cold but it just might be allergic rhinitis.

As you surely know, allergic rhinitis is serious and debilitating. Unchecked, allergic rhinitis can affect your quality of life. Not only does it cause nasal obstruction, excessive sneezing and watery eyes. It also causes sleep disturbances and consequently, daytime fatigue. Moreover, chronic attacks of allergic rhinitis make one susceptible to viral and bacterial infections which can lead to worsening of asthma and respiratory ailments.

A Solution

Homeopathic treatments are steadily gaining popularity for treating ailments. Homeopathy is system of therapy based on the concept that disease can be treated with drugs (in minute doses) thought capable of producing the same symptoms in healthy people as the disease itself.

Homeopathy was invented by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It was both refined and popularized by the American physician James Tyler Kent. Homeopathy is based on the theory that each naturally occurring element, plant, and mineral compound will, when ingested or applied, result in certain symptoms.

Hahnemann believed that, by diluting these substances in a standardized manner, one could reach the true essence of that substance. Hahnemann described this process of dilution as “potentizing” (German: “potenziert”) the substance. These dilute amounts could then be used to treat the very symptoms they were known to produce.

Hahnemann and his students approached their treatments in a holistic way, meaning that the whole of the body and spirit is dealt with, not just the localized disease. Hahnemann himself spent extended periods of time with his patients, asking them questions that dealt not only with their particular symptoms or illness, but also with the details of their daily lives.
It is also suggested that the gentle approach of homeopathy was a reaction to the violent forms of medicine of the day, which included techniques such as bleeding.

What to remember about homeopathy

Homeopathy works on the principle that “like cures like”-meaning that substances causing disease symptoms could also alleviate those same symptoms. The theory, is that homeopathic remedies rally the body’s own natural healing defenses to fend off illness. Made from highly diluted plant, mineral and animal substances, homeopathic medicines aren’t always considered valid by traditional physicians.

But in 1992, Congress established the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) to begin clinical trials of dietary supplements and nontraditional therapies. Results so far have proven informative: one recent study on vertigo appearing in the American Medical Association’s Archives of Otolaryngology showed that the homeopathic remedy for vertigo, Vertigoheel, improved the symptoms in 70% of the subjects–making it as effective as the standard drug betahistine.

If you decide to choose homeopathy, consider this:

Less Is More

Though critics maintain that homeopathic medicines are too diluted to be effective, homeopaths believe that smaller, more diluted doses are generally the most potent.

Mix And Match

Use the remedy that best corresponds to your symptoms. Books like The Natural Healing Companion can help you make informed decisions.

Understand Potency

When you’re positive you’ve got the right remedy, choose a higher potency. Less sure? Pick a lower one. Or try a combination of medications for a given condition. If you don’t get relief after 24 hours, try another remedy.
Very often, people find that in treating a “big” problem, like anxiety, “smaller” associated problems, like insomnia, heal as well. When treating serious conditions, consult your regular physician.

Homeopathic Therapy

No one wants to be slowed down by allergies. Allergies are caused by the immune system’s overreaction to a misidentified threat, such as pollen. The body’s cells defend themselves by releasing histamine, a chemical that causes an allergic cascade of familiar symptoms such as coughing, sneezing and runny nose.

Because histamines can affect other parts of the body, individuals with allergies also will suffer symptoms outside of the sinuses. These could include itchy eyes and skin. Allergy tests initiated by your practitioner can provide a better idea of what is causing the reaction, so it can be avoided all together.

Check out your local drug store for available homeopathic allergy relief to help you combat the adverse effects of allergens and its debilitating result on the way you live your life.

Unfortunately, along with staying on mission to fertilize plants and tree flowers, pollen particles often end up in our noses, eyes, ears and mouths.
Pollen allergy, most commonly known as hay fever, inflicts one out of ten individuals. Hay fever is seasonal allergic rhinitis and it is characterized by regular bouts of sneezing, a runny, clogged or itchy nose, itchy, watery red eyes, and an itchy throat.
The awful truth
Allergic rhinitis is serious and debilitating.
Unfortunately, a lot of people who suffer from allergic rhinitis misdiagnose themselves and think they are suffering from the common cold.
A taste of its own medicine
Since pollen come from plants, fight back allergic rhinitis with other plants! Yes, there are herbal ways to soothe allergies so that spending time outdoors won’t be punctuated by red eyes, itchy noses and nasal congestion and make outdoor fun a challenge.
Herbs are generally considered to be quite safe, and they can be an important addition to your natural allergy treatment regimen. However, be aware that natural substances are contraindicated for some conditions and they can affect the way your body utilizes certain medications.
The following herbs are listed in the literature as natural antihistamines or decongestants
- Bromelain shows promise in decreasing the inflammation associated with allergies. It is often used in combination with quercetin.
- Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) has been found to block both histamine and leukotrienes. Relieves nasal allergy symptoms.
- Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) may help soothe irritated eyes.
- Magnesium helps calm lower respiratory allergies and wheezing.
- Stinging nettles (Urtica dioica/urens) have been shown to slightly improve allergy symptoms and have historically been used for that purpose.
- Vitamin C appears to counter histamine and decrease allergy symptoms.
- Zinc helps control inflammation in the respiratory tract and support proper immune function.
Sugar pie honey bunch
Aside from the above suggested remedies, you may also try honey. It may seem odd that straight exposure to pollen often triggers allergies but that exposure to pollen in the honey usually has the opposite effect. But this is typically what we see.
In honey, the allergens are delivered in small, manageable doses, and the effect over time is very much like that from undergoing a whole series of allergy immunology injections. The major difference, though, is that the honey is a lot easier to take, and it is certainly a lot less expensive. One will be always surprised that this powerful health benefit of local honey is not more widely understood, as it is simple, easy and often surprisingly effective.
Pharmaceutical companies have huge budgets and can fund studies, but with honey, this scientific research doesn’t seem to get funded; thus, most evidence we have is what we see, anecdotal evidence. That, however, can be and often is important; sometimes or actually often, such evidence proves very useful.

Millions of Americans suffer from ocular allergies or what is in layman’s term, eye allergy. Still, people often mistake this for ordinary eye problems such as tired eyes. This is because most of the symptoms of eye allergies are quite common.
People do not realize that what their eye problems are actually being triggered by a specific allergen that they do not know. Pinpointing the exact allergen is another trick that is hard to master as there are a host of things that can trigger an eye allergy, from dust and dirt to the smoke in the air or a very strong chemical.
It is however, important to be on the look out for episodes of eye allergies as the condition can lead to permanent damage to your eyes through excessive scratching and rubbing. One cannot blame them though as eye allergies can be extremely uncomfortable and sometimes even painful. It is a must then that people learn to identify what is an eye allergy episode from ordinary ones and save their eyes from potential troubles.
Here are some of the symptoms that people should watch out for. Some are more prevalent than the others. Some do not even manifest at all. This is why it has been so hard to determine an eye allergy episode from an ordinary one.
Symptoms of eye allergy include:
Itching
Redness of the eyes
Tearing of the eyes or watery eyes
Swelling of the lids
There are also less common ones like:
Scratchy feeling in the eye
Redness of the eyelids
Blurred, hazy, or unclear vision
Swelling of the eyeball
The sensation that something is in the eye
Swelling or puffiness of the eyelids
Increased sensitivity to light, also known as photophobia
Eye allergy relief may be achieved through the use of something as simple as an eye drop or an eye allergy medicine that your doctor will provide. This depends on the intensity of the symptoms that you are experiencing and the extent of the eye allergy.
For temporary eye allergy relief, one may of course use eye drops. But one must remember that eye drops may also be used in minor eye troubles that do not last for an extended period of time. Eye drops are good only in relieving the redness of the eyes or the itchiness caused by the eye allergies. It can also help relieve ocular pressure and prevent glaucoma.
In choosing an eye drop that will relieve your eye allergy problems, it is good that you pick one that is especially formulated to solve your predicament. There are in fact eye drops in the market that are made especially for eye allergies. These usually contain antihistamines or an agent that will lubricate the eyes.
Though there are a lot of eye medicines in the market providing eye allergy relief, it is still important that you consult a professional before you take anything. Remember that the eyes are very sensitive to any form of chemicals.
Knowing the right medicine to take will also help you to not only cure or get rid of a eye allergy episode but also help you in the management and prevention of future ones. Your doctor will surely be able to recommend a drug that you can keep on standby when you get another. What is more, your doctor can also determine exactly what you are allergic at, which you can then avoid.

Some pets bring about some allergies. Some people suffer from these allergies because of their pets. Here are some facts, figures and commentaries you need to consider when you have to take allergy relief steps.
Individuals with allergies and allergy-induced asthma are allergic to more than one allergen (substances triggering the body’s reaction). Other allergens include mold, mildew, pollen, dust and dust mites, plants, foods, cosmetics.
Allergy sufferers can have varying degrees of sensitivity to different allergens. Whether someone displays symptoms depends on how many of the offending allergens are in the environment at the same time; in combination, they can exceed the individual’s allergy threshold, triggering allergic reactions.
It’s easy for doctors to make the generic, age-old recommendation to “get rid of pets.” However, even when it’s certain that a person is allergic to dog or cat dander, saliva and urine, it’s wrong to assume that eliminating an animal will free the person from future symptoms.
Clearly, it’s important to be aware of all of the individual’s allergy triggers and take steps to minimize exposure. Other measures should be tried before giving up a family pet.
Many families have described the sad experience of giving up a pet on the recommendation of a physician, only to find out that the child (or other family member) still experiences allergic reactions. They wish they had first tried other measures to manage the family member’s allergy.
While there are some situations in which the allergic person suffers such severe symptoms that rehoming the pet is among the steps necessary, in more cases, the allergy sufferer and pet can coexist comfortably in the same household by taking sensible, practical measures.
In recent years, science has advanced the understanding and management of allergies and asthma, enabling most families to keep pets in the home. Successful management combines good hygiene, diligent cleaning, air quality management, sensible pet handling, and prudent use of safe, effective medications.
Find an allergy specialist who understands your commitment to living with your pet. Your specialist will develop a plan to help manage the allergy/asthma and prevent allergic episodes.
Regardless of exposure to animals, a good allergy management plan includes prescription medications. Great strides have been made in allergy and asthma medicines in recent years, so be sure to consult with an allergy/asthma specialist.
Medical treatments for pet allergy symptoms include steroid and antihistamine nose sprays and pills. Asthma management typically involves a combination of preventive and symptom control medications, often in inhaler form.
Allergy sufferers should always keep their medications on hand and make sure to refill prescriptions before the expiration dates. Don’t wait for symptoms to get out of hand. Use medications as prescribed to prevent the onset of problems, from sneezing, coughing and other respiratory symptoms to the airway constriction associated with asthma.
Reactions to airborne allergens tend to peak between 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., so it’s advisable to take medications before bedtime.
Giving up a pet without making a committed effort to first try other measures teaches children that pets are disposable. It also sends messages of helplessness and that there’s only one way to solve a problem.
And all too often, giving up the pet does not solve the allergy problem. Particularly when the allergic symptoms persist, the child shares a feeling of failure. If the child shared a bond with the animal, the loss will also serve as an unhappy life-lesson. Parting with a beloved animal companion is an emotionally wrenching experience.

Cats!
No, I’m not talking about the play – but I’m sure one way or another you’ve encountered these felines. Whether you’re a lover or a hater of these animals- you can’t discount the fact that yes! You may be allergic to them!
Contrary to popular belief, cat hair itself is not allergenic. The primary offender is a protein (Fel d 1) found in the saliva and skin of all cats. However, some of this protein is transferred to the hair as the cat grooms itself, and hair floating in the air can irritate the respiratory tract of individuals with asthma and other airway diseases.
Also, other substances that you may be allergic to, such as pollen, dust and mites, may cling to your cat’s hair, especially if the cat goes outdoors.
If you own a cat, and if you’re allergic to them, and you don’t want to give them up, here are some strategies which may help reduce your symptoms.
If you plan to add a cat to your household, choose a female – they produce only two thirds of the allergens as compared to that of male cats. If you have a male cat, neuter him. This will decrease the level of Fel d 1 (the allergy bringer) on the skin as this allergen is under hormonal control of testosterone in male cats.
Bathe your cat in warm water once a week. Try using a cream rinse or spray-on coat treatment. If your cat hates the water, try introducing him to bathing gradually over time. Put him in the tub or sink and begin with the tail or a paw.
Next week add another paw, etc. Do not yell at or spank him. Feeding a favorite treat while in the water works for some cats. If you can get your cat to associate bathing with something he already expects and tolerates, or even likes, bathing him will be less traumatic.
Try establishing a ritual of playing and grooming, combined with treats. Some cats accept blow drying as part of the bathing process, while others hate the sound of the blower motor. Most cats, on the other hand, enjoy being dried with soft fluffy towels and being combed and petted afterwards. If you find that you can’t personally bathe your cat, take him to a professional groomer.
Have someone (other than the allergy sufferer) brush and comb the cat outdoors or in an area where the air is vented to the outdoors regularly to remove hair and dander.
Spending part of the day in an allergen-free zone may allow you the relief you need to see you through the balance of the day.
If your cat has any condition that causes dry, scaly skin or excessive scratching or licking, try to find an effective remedy. Try to keep your cat free of parasites, such as fleas or worms, which can cause itchy or dry skin. Feed a good quality food. Some poor quality foods may contribute to the problem.
Consider using a damp mop instead of a vacuum. The exhaust of most vacuum cleaners stirs up particles of cat allergen to such an extent that the allergy suffer will often be more rather than less symptomatic after the house has been vacuumed.
If you must vacuum, check a consumer’s publication to find which models are highly rated for filtration of allergens. Use a high efficiency micro-filter cleaner. If possible, leave the vacuuming to another family member while you go out and stay away long enough for the dust to settle.
Eliminate other allergens. You may be allergic to substances other than Fel d 1. The only way to tell for sure is to be tested by an allergist. Take steps to eliminate these other allergens in your home also.
Here’s to enjoying your cat and not getting hives all the time!

Sometimes, the air shouldn’t only be cleared of grievances and tension. It should also be thoroughly cleared of harmful allergens that silently attack us.
Virtually unseen, tiny particles called allergen that enter our respiratory track make our bodies produce histamines that cause regular bouts of sneezing, runny, clogged or itchy nose, itchy, watery red eyes, and an itchy throat. Unchecked, these symptoms may greatly affect the quality of our life. These symptoms will dictate how we live our lives.
Another one bites the dust
Allergens are things that cause an allergic reaction such as Allergic Rhinitis. House dust mites are the most common indoor allergens. The dust on the bookshelf, in the curtain or seen floating in a beam of sunlight is everywhere indoors. This dust contains the droppings of very tiny bugs called house dust mite. These droppings are the most common indoor cause of allergic rhinitis. Dust mites often inhabit places where there are skin flakes and dander, which they so love to feed on. This is why it is recommended to always wash the bed sheets and comforters in your bedroom as this is the place where there are lots of skin flakes. Pets also produce both of these so, it is also recommended that you let them stay outside the sleeping area to minimize the growth and activity of dust mites.
Allergic rhinitis is serious and debilitating.
Every breathe you take
We depend on the air to breathe and we breathe to live. That is why, the quality of air in your home must be improved by installing high efficiency A/C filters to help trap airborne allergens and make sure that every breathe you take will not lead to allergic rhinitis.
Air cleaners can also be used to reduce airborne allergens and improve overall air quality, especially in the bedroom.
It’s all around
Dust is everywhere. It’s on the bookshelf, in the curtain or seen floating in a beam of sunlight everywhere indoors. This dust contains the droppings of very tiny bugs called house dust mite. These droppings are the most common indoor cause of allergic rhinitis.
Protect yourself from these tiny menaces by purchasing allergy air conditioning filters and furnace filters. Better filtration is the first step in improving indoor air quality. The allergy relief store has a lot of quality allergy air conditioning filters and furnace filters and air purifiers.
Don’t hold your breath
Instead of holding your breath so as not to breathe in harmful allergens, get an air purifier instead. An Air purifier can clean your air very quietly; certain types of air purifier can even clean large rooms quietly, too.
If someone in your home has allergies, then an air purifier can help relieve some of the symptoms. An Air purifier can remove pollen, pet dander, smoke, mold spores and household dust from the air in your home.
When you are looking for an air purifier, check public listings online for a plethora of choices for the best air purifiers that offer allergy relief.
